Microfinance as a Tool to Support Europe’s Missing Entrepreneurs

A new research paper on Microfinance as a Tool to Support Europe’s Missing Entrepreneurs from CEB introduces a simple theoretical framework – the Entrepreneurship Pyramid – to better understand barriers to business creation faced by disadvantaged groups and to examine the role of microfinance providers in addressing these challenges.

Entrepreneurship generates significant socio-economic benefits and can support the socioeconomic integration of disadvantaged individuals and groups. Microfinance is a tool for making entrepreneurship a reality for those who might not otherwise be able to access the financing necessary for their plans.

As a social development bank, the CEB recognises the social impact of microfinance. We committed to increasing our support to microfinance institutions in our Strategic Framework, 2023-2027.
