8th European Microfinance Award: Ceremony & Winners!

This year, MFC as a member of European Microfinance Platform and a recognised housing microfinance expert, had the pleasure to support the process of setting up and holding the 8th European Microfinance Award.

The three 2017 Award finalists and the Winner were announced at the European Microfinance Award Ceremony held on Thursday evening, November 30th in Luxembourg.

The Winner of the European Microfinance Award for Housing is Cooperative Tasepantomin of Mexico

Cooperativa Tosepantomin of Mexico offers housing savings and loans combined with technical assistance to rural clients living in marginalised areas.

Runner-up

Mibanco of Peru is recognized for its housing products, including a long-term, collateralized mortgage, an incremental home improvement loan and a water and sanitation connection product;

Runner-up

The First MicroFinance Bank (FMFB) Afghanistan is recognized for its home improvement loan, provided with construction technical assistance offered through a network of partner experts.

The European Microfinance Award 2017 “Microfinance for Housing” is intended to highlight the role of microfinance in supporting access to better quality residential housing for low income, vulnerable and excluded groups, with no or limited access to housing finance in the mainstream sector.
