Strengthening Microfinance Across Europe: Highlights from SIFTA’s Autumn 2025 Workshops and Trainings

This autumn, the SIFTA Program continued its mission to empower microfinance institutions (MFIs) and social economy financing providers (SEFPs) across Europe through a series of targeted workshops and trainings. From Poland to Italy, Croatia to Lithuania, these events brought together professionals and experts to exchange knowledge, build capacity, and explore innovative tools for improving operations and outreach.

On September 26, an online workshop for Polish MFIs and SEFPs focused on sales process automation and CRM integration. Led by Kacper Rzosiński, the session introduced participants to the practical use of AI tools—such as GPT and Gemini—for streamlining sales, enhancing customer service, and analyzing data. Through interactive exercises and discussions, attendees explored how AI can be safely and effectively integrated into client-facing operations, gaining insights into the future of digital transformation in microfinance.

Just a few days later, on October 1, SIFTA hosted a full-day onsite workshop in Milan, Italy, titled “Social Media Marketing – Communicating the Value of Microcredit and the Social Economy.” Facilitated by communication expert Raffaella Amoroso, the event brought together Italian MFIs and SEFPs to explore the power of digital storytelling and multi-channel communication. Participants engaged in hands-on activities, including crafting social media posts and analyzing real-world campaigns, while also learning about influencer strategies and methods for measuring digital impact.

On October 8, attention turned to Croatia, where a webinar on AML/CFT regulations was held for CEOs, managers, and staff of Croatian Credit Unions. Experts Tena Klarić and Ana Matić provided practical guidance on establishing and managing robust anti-money laundering systems, ensuring compliance with legal obligations. The session offered deep insights into regulatory frameworks, supervisory processes, and case studies, helping institutions strengthen their internal controls and risk management practices.

Finally, from October 20 to 24, SIFTA delivered a tailored onsite training program in Vilnius, Lithuania, for the management and staff of Taurus Fondas (Faktoro). Led by senior expert Artur Munteanu (MFC), the training focused on enhancing internal policies and processes in portfolio management, risk management, internal audit, and sales. Through critical analysis, best practice sharing, and practical exercises, participants developed actionable skills to improve institutional performance and resilience.

These events reflect SIFTA’s commitment to fostering innovation, compliance, and strategic communication across the European microfinance landscape. By connecting local institutions with expert knowledge and practical tools, the program continues to support sustainable growth and social impact in the sector.

And the SIFTA does not stop. Check out what we plan in November.
