How to start digital transformation in an MFI #DigLitBootcamp (14 July)

Digital transformation offers many opportunities to MFIs in terms of improving outreach and efficiency. So many, that one needs to carefully decide, where to start. Otherwise random digitalization may cause inefficient investments and frustration from ineffective solutions. This webinar will help you design a roadmap for digital transformation: it will present a process for identifying the digitalization needs at the level of clients and the microfinance institution; it will provide tips for prioritizing the actions and planning the activities. We will also present some ready to use tools, that help MFI team in taking the right decisions. The webinar is based on practical experience of microStart (link) from Belgium and the Microfinance Centre. The webinar should be attended especially by key decision makers and people responsible for the process of digitalization.

Presenter: Jente Minne, microStart & Justyna Pytkowska, Microfinance Centre

After his MSC in Industrial design and a specialization in microfinance at the European Microfinance Programme, Jente started working as a volunteer manager for microStart, the leader in professional microfinance in Belgium. As he was always passionate about IT-systems and digitalization, he became responsible for the digital transformation of microStart in 2016. His speciality is the selection of low-cost but efficient IT-tools and the implementation of an agile mindset in the organisation.

Justyna manages research projects and is the author of the annual publication on the state of microfinance industry in Eastern Europe and Central Asia. She also conducts market research studies in the demand for microfinance products (credit, savings, microinsurance), access to finance and the use of financial services, indebtedness, using a variety of research techniques (focus group discussions, in-depth interviews, questionnaire-based surveys).

She has 20 years experience working in development in Eastern European countries and the Commonwealth of Independent States and 12 years experience in conducting microfinance research. This includes hands-on experience in conducting qualitative research and quantitative data analysis using statistical software, writing and publishing articles on the state of microfinance in the region.
