Barcelona Declaration: Turning Migrants into Job Creators
As part of our European programme MAGNET Consortium, which MFC is a part of, M-UP, SPARK is promoting the Barcelona Declaration: Turning migrants into job creators (video) campaign, with the aim of improving the conditions of migrants when creating businesses in Europe, facilitating their social integration and job creation.
The Declaration is a call to action to all the actors that can contribute to remove the additional barriers that migrant entrepreneurs have to face when setting up a business, such as restrictive administrative regulations, unknowledge of business frameworks, cultural differences, lack of social capital, access to finance restrictions or xenophobia and racism, among others.
The campaign aims to collect signatures through change.org platform, so that public administrations, business organizations, migrant associations, entrepreneurship entities, financial institutions and the media, among others, commit to improving the migrant entrepreneurship ecosystem. Once the 50,000 signatures have been obtained, the Declaration will be presented in the European Parliament.
The Declaration is the result of a long process of collective development that began in April 2019 in Barcelona and which have participated more than 100 organisations around Europe specialized in promoting migrant entrepreneurship.
