In March 2019, Microfinance Centre and Center for Financial Inclusion at Accion teamed up to conduct research in Poland and Serbia using human-centered design principles to develop a financial health digital solution for microentrepreneurs. This effort forms part of our Building Financial Capabilities and Strengthening Institutions through Customer-centered Innovations project. As part of this research, the teams interviewed 17 Polish microentrepreners in who are beneficiaries of Polish NGO Fundacja Innowacja i Wiedza, as well as 13 microfinance clients of Opportunity Bank Serbia.
The research provided valuable insights into people’s financial behaviour and preferences for strategies to improve their financial health. In parallel, we also collected another round of feedback on the MFC Financial Health Quiz. Following on from this, both teams will continue to develop early prototypes of the final digital financial health solution.
