MFC Members Shine at fi-compass 10-Year Anniversary Event

The fi-compass 10-year anniversary, held on 25–27 November in Brussels, brought together key players in social finance to celebrate a decade of innovation and impact. Two of our members – SIS Credit (Bulgaria) and Microsmart (Greece) – played an active role in shaping the discussions.

Martina Grigorova, CEO of SIS Credit and MFC Council Member, joined the opening session to highlight microfinance as a driver of social inclusion in Europe. Meanwhile, Neoklis Stamkos, CEO of Microsmart, presented the TEPIX III Microcredit Fund at the #ShowcaseAward25, nominated in the Innovation category.

MFC’s participation reinforced its position as a trusted partner of the European Commission, European Investment Bank (EIB) and European Investment Fund (EIF) in advancing programmes and financial instruments for the social finance sector. Represented by Pavol Kapsdorfer, Network and Partnership Manager, MFC also strengthened ties with managing authorities, development banks and partners across CEE countries – paving the way for future collaboration.

A key session on ESF+ financial instruments explored opportunities for blending and synergies, including contributions to InvestEU and combining instruments with guarantees and grants to pilot innovative solutions. These efforts complement training, coaching and mentoring initiatives that help social finance providers deliver greater impact.

ESF financial instruments remain vital for supporting microfinance, social entrepreneurship and labour market access for vulnerable groups. To stay relevant, they must evolve to meet changing market conditions and beneficiary needs – and innovative partnerships will be essential.

The event offered a valuable opportunity to reflect on achievements and set the stage for the next decade of progress in social finance.
