PSD 2 – the Future of Payments with Allen & Overy

The overall objective is to provide audience with a broad overview of the Payment Services Directive (2015/2366) or PSD II.
The webinar will present details on the regulations of the Directive itself including the scope and the new regulated services in comparison to PSD I: payment initiation and account information services. The (practical) consequences for banks and customers – client authentication, remote communication, information security – will be broadly discussed.The participant will hear also about the licencing process and the new entries to the regulated financial markets that we see. Finally the webinar will look onto market developments and key questions from clients that are received in the firm.
Presenters: Pien van Vliet & Joost Elsenburg
Pien is an associate in the International Capital Markets department and a member of our Financial Markets Regulation practice, with a particular focus on FinTech and payments. She advises financial institutions on financial regulatory matters, including MiFID II, PSD2 and licence applications. She has also experience in a wide range of international capital markets transactions. Pien joined Allen & Overy in 2018 after graduating from Leiden University and the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
|Joost specialises in international capital markets law with a focus on financial regulatory supervision. He advises both banks and companies on matters relating to market abuse, transparency requirements and compliance. In July 2008 Joost completed cum laude the Grotius course in Financial Law. Prior to joining Allen & Overy in 2008, Joost worked as a legal counsel of the Netherlands Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM). In his role at the AFM he advised the supervisory teams that approve prospectuses and perform the real -time monitoring of listed entities (market abuse and transparency requirements). In 2014 Joost left A&O to work for ABN AMRO Bank N.V. where he was member of the IPO team, that was responsible for the listing of ABN AMRO and he was the manager of the Capital Markets Team Legal. After the listing of ABN AMRO, Joost assisted in the listing (and sell downs) of several other companies where ABN AMRO had a role (e.g. Adyen, NIBC and Alfen) and was a member of the ABN AMRO Blockchain tribe. Joost rejoined in 2018.|
