AMFA Celebrates 25 Years: 12th AMFA Conference in Baku

2026 is a landmark year for microfinance in Azerbaijan. The Azerbaijan Micro-finance Association (AMFA) is celebrating its 25th anniversary, while the country’s microfinance sector marks 30 years since its beginnings.

To celebrate these milestones, AMFA will host its 12th Conference in Baku on 28 October 2026, under the theme “Investment & Sustainable Growth in Microfinance”. The conference will bring together policymakers, regulators, financial institutions, investors and international development partners to take stock of the sector’s progress and discuss its future direction.

What’s on the agenda

The one-day programme opens with welcome remarks, followed by panel discussions on the issues shaping microfinance today.

The first panel will look at financial inclusion strategies and regulatory frameworks, including national inclusion strategies, recent policy developments and public–private collaboration. The second will focus on access to finance and the role of investors, exploring the balance between impact and commercial investment and ways to expand access to capital.

In the afternoon, participants can choose between two parallel sessions: one on cybersecurity challenges in digital microfinance, covering data protection, cyber risk management and building digital trust; and one on risk management, addressing credit risk, portfolio quality, macroeconomic resilience and early warning systems. The day closes with a panel on digital transformation and AI, including the use of AI and machine learning in credit scoring and partnerships with fintechs.
